Mohd Zaki Mohd Zaili Malaysia

Dr. Mohd Zaki Bin Mohd Zaili is a Clinical Microbiologist at Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. He obtained his MD/medical degree (Doctor of Medicine) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Doctor of Pathology in Medical Microbiology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He began his career serving in remote districts across Sabah, where he encountered significant challenges related to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). These experiences motivated his specialization in microbiology, with a focus on strengthening diagnostic capacity and surveillance to address antimicrobial resistance in the region. Currently, Dr. Zaki supports antibiotic surveillance and provides microbiological expertise for infection prevention and control at Hospital Queen Elizabeth. He is a member of the State of Sabah Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee, the Hospital Queen Elizabeth Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee (HIACC), and serves as the State Microbiologist, contributing to statewide strategies in antimicrobial stewardship. As a Microbiology Lab Technical Manager, he oversees a laboratory accredited to MS ISO 15189:2022, reflecting his commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement in diagnostic services. His work emphasizes the laboratory’s essential role in guiding evidence-based infection control practices and combating antimicrobial resistance.
