Rohaidah Hashim Malaysia

Dr Rohaidah Hashim is currently working in Bacteriology Unit, Institute for Medical Research, Kuala Lumpur. She began her career in University Hospital, followed by National Blood Centre and later Hospital Kuala Lumpur before joining Institute for Medical Research as Pathologist (Clinical Microbiology) in 2008. She has vast experience in the field of Clinical Microbiology. Currently she serves as Head, Bacteriology Unit, IMR. She is the resource person for bacteria identification, verification of resistant phenotype for sensitivity testing of bacteria, Carbapenemases Resistanct Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) verification as well as resistant testing for other bacteria as IMR serves as a reference centre and act as co-ordinating centre for National Surveillance of Antibiotic Resistance. She is also active in laboratory accreditation and is currently appointed as technical auditor for Department Standard Malaysia. She is currently doing active research in Microbiology and has contributed to some publication in this field. Research areas of interest • Understanding the molecular basis of resistant pathogen • Investigation of hospital acquired infection particularly working with resistant pathogen • Understanding the genetic entity of resistant mechanisms in bacteria • Whole genome sequence of bacteria. • Vaccine preventable bacterial diseases
