Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin Malaysia
Dr. Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin is a Medical Lecturer in the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Head of the Infection Control Unit at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS UPM). She obtained her MBChB from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and a PhD in Infection Control Science from Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Tengku Zetty's expertise is in infection prevention and control (IPC), healthcare epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and One Health. She currently serves as the National Consultant for AMR at the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Office for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, where she coordinated the Regional Tripartite AMR Project involving WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). In this role, she supported the development and implementation of national AMR policies, surveillance systems, governance frameworks, workforce capacity strengthening, and multisectoral collaboration across the human, animal, food, and environmental sectors.
At the national level, she is a member of Malaysia’s National Infection and Antimicrobial Control Committee (NIACC) under the Ministry of Health and serves as the Principal Investigator for HSAAS UPM in the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) Research Network. She has contributed to the development of national IPC and AMR guidelines, curricula, and strategic action plans, while providing technical expertise to healthcare institutions and government agencies.
Her research focuses on healthcare-associated infections, antimicrobial resistance, implementation science, and genomic epidemiology. She has led and collaborated on nationally and internationally funded research, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and presented her work at regional and international scientific meetings. As an educator and mentor, she actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students and is committed to advancing evidence-based clinical practice, research excellence, and health system strengthening through interdisciplinary collaboration.
