Dr.Yuho Horikoshi Tokyo Metropolitan Children's Medical CenterJapan

Dr. Yuho Horikoshi is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist and currently serves as Director of the Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Medical Center, Japan. His expertise spans pediatric infectious diseases, microbiology, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, and public health. He completed his pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Toronto, Canada. After returning to Japan, he has led numerous hospital-wide and multicenter initiatives to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship and infection control in neonatal and pediatric populations. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored Japan’s national pediatric antimicrobial stewardship manual. His research focuses on antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, and healthcare-associated infections and is supported by multiple competitive research grants. From 2019 to 2021, Dr. Horikoshi served as a consultant with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Nigeria and Malaysia, contributing to vaccine-preventable disease control and the COVID-19 response. He remains actively engaged in global health, outbreak response, antimicrobial resistance in resource-limited setting and international collaboration through WHO and other networks. In addition to his academic and clinical roles, he is dedicated to education and mentorship, training pediatric infectious diseases fellows and healthcare professionals. He has received multiple awards, including honors from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, and the Japan Pediatric Society.
